Automatic door opener

We decided to get an automatic door opener for the chicken house as we realised it won't be long before we get back from work in the dark. It installed quite well and is so far functioning without a hitch. I shall write up the details on my projects page and I can see this developing in to an "ultimate chicken house" project!

Hi Matt,
Your use of a PIC processor really interests me. Did you utalise a ready made PCB or did you create one yourself?
Also, how did you use the relays in conjunction with the door unit?

Hi James,
The timer mechanism I just built on a breadboard and stuck it in a plastic bag inside the chicken house. I did design a PCB using eagle but haven't yet got round to making the PCB. I ended up using a latching relay to open and close the switch which I ran off a half hbridge. One day I will get round to posting the plans and the code.
